Sung grew up in Brazil and has a background in physical therapy and acupuncture. After working in hospitals and clinics, he felt that something was missing. After participating in a mission trip, he realized that his truest joy is found in serving God.

He left Brazil to pursue theological education at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (now Gateway Seminary). He received his Master of Divinity degree in May 2017 and his Doctor of Ministry degree in December 2024.

Before coming to TBC, Sung served for over 10 years at a Korean-American church in San Mateo. Sung has a big heart for the younger generation and desires every person to know God and live a life that glorifies Him. He also loves missions and seeks every opportunity to serve and share God's love to others.

He is married to Soo Jee and they have a lovely daughter, Joy. In his spare time, Sung enjoys watching soccer highlights, playing guitar, and listening to good worship songs.
